As much I talked about the problems I had with Interracial Porn I was just reminded of a group of people who get the shaft more than Black Folk do.
Quickly … name me a prominent Asian Male Porn Star that your know? [To Quote Katt Williams, "Don't Worry I'll Wait]
Couldn’t think of one huh? Me neither but I could name you a half dozen Asian (or those half Asian) women pornstars who previously or is now working in the industry. Porn is not as inclusive as you think as this clip of The Daily Show indicated in 2004 with an interview with Dr. Darrell Hamamoto who produced, wrote and directed the movie Skin On Skin (props to Blogger CinnamonNutmeg for putting me onto this subject.)

It’s funny until you step back and think that the reason for the obstacles for Asian American Men in the Mainstream Porn Industry are due to outright prejudice of the industry as a whole. Again … its 2009 why is this stuff still hanging its ugly head?
Asian men are reported to have small penises by small minded people. However Asian women are looked on as being exotic sexual beings who can’t get enough of white men.
Sasha Grey, Pornstar and new muse in Steven Soderbergh’s movie, The Girlfriend Experience weighs in on the topic.
Again, I’m not trying to keep reporting depressing facts but I’m simply observing what is going on in the industry. I will post something uplifting soon … but these other topics keep popping up.

So on July 15, CNBC aired the Documentary Porn: The Business of Pleasure. This Report discussed many of the issues surrounding Pornography, from both the proponents and opponents of the genre.
It was entertaining but I found it very lacking as there wasn’t one Person Of Color in the adult industry interviewed or a view of the P.O.C. or Interracial Porn discussed. [Oddly surprising considering that, Melissa Lee, a Person Of Color, Wrote, Produced and starred in the feature].
So porn is only purchased by White Heterosexual Fans? *sigh*
Anyway I’ve included the video for your viewing pleasure. Please note you may have to sign in/register into Hulu.com to view since the subject matter is a bit adult.

I know I’m late with this as several Adult Entertainment News sites have already reported it, but Not The Cosby XXX Star, Monica Foster has launched her own website for those thinking of getting into porn. Named, GettingIntoPorn.com, it gives information for women who would like to get into porn (or are newly inducted into it).
Monica stated the reason for starting the site in an interview she gave to AVN:
I hope www.GettingIntoPorn.com can assist women new to porn industry, who are interested in becoming porn actresses to not only have a clear picture as to what to expect, but also in providing some unconventional information as to how to take charge of your career and effective promote and market yourself — especially online which is where the future of porn currently is.

Welcome to the new visitors to the site and a big hearty thank you goes out to both Racialicious and SmackDog Chronicles for linking me up in their blogs in regards to my last post regarding Interracial Porn and the politics therein. Visits to ye old site increased significantly with the inclusion and hope not to disappoint those who stop by with further intriguing posts.
So today’s subject I thought I would turn it over to my female friends (and readers of this site) who know my extensive knowledge of porn but still love me any way. I posed a question to them that has been hanging around in my head for a minute now.
“Why have you stopped (or limited) your viewing of porn?”
The answers were pretty varied and interesting:
V, from Florida wrote:
I used to get excited at having a little piece of erotica in my hands, a visual representation of the books I would read. A man providing for the physical needs of a woman. Wanton-lust-passion-sex-physical LOVE. I could even sometimes imagine myself in the place of the ladies being serviced by fine men. Being the object of his affection or lust even.
I began the sentence with “used to” because, I just don’t see any of that anymore. In this day and age of technology, and the advancement of men and women, you would think a fantasy would be easy to create on film. You would think a plot and storyline wouldn’t be too much to ask for.
Now days most porn movies are now “Scenes”. You get some chick, with bullet holes, knife wounds and stretch marks, sauntering onto the screen, next it is head, if she is lucky, the guy will reciprocate, then BONE, and the facial. Forgive me, but that just doesn’t turn me on. It is actually an embarrassment.
That was pretty passionate and pretty correct on a number of levels. My friends there used to be porn where it was fun and interesting. Porn that had plots and scripts and focused on a number of topics both real and fantastical. While looking at the site PornStar Classics I was amazed of how different films where back in the late Eighties/Early Nineties.
As for plot, a NY Times wrote an article recently stating that Porn today has even less plotting than before. They list several reasons for this but what struck me was the following quote:
The falling cost of hand-held video cameras gave birth to a generation of pornographers with little interest in drama beyond a clichéd plot involving a pizza delivery boy, said Paul Fishbein, president of the AVN Media Network, an industry trade publication.
I think what killed porn as a classic medium was the internet and video cameras. I’m not bemoaning the fact that the technology has improved things around us. That would make me sound like those folk who bemoan Twitter, The iPhone and all the other tech advancements. However it is plain to see that the ability to tape directly to video (and by extension Digital Video) it has made it possible for anyone to become a porn producer and distribute their media directly to customers via the internet.
Just like Pro Tools allow anyone to produce their own music and Torrent Sites allow them bypass big studios to put out their own songs.
I’m reminded about that classic scene the movie Boogie Nights where Jack Horner (played by Burt Reynolds) refuses to succumb to the advances of Floyd Gondolli (played by Philip Baker Hall).
Porn used to be about fantasy … but now thanks to technology and the business, its morphed into something more.
Okay on to the next person:
K, from NYC wrote:
Because it’s boring and some of those camera angles look like I’m watching some kind of medical video.
I noticed that too. Some of those camera angles simply look like they want to show every entry point in a woman’s body during the scene. You don’t film an action movie by looking at every entry point from the gun to where the bullet lands but you get every angle known to man. Sadly it means that most of my viewing of porn is me hitting the fact forward button looking for scenes where it looks like there is some passion between the participants.
From my twitter feed, @asturdivant wrote:
Don’t like: No kissing, no ‘heat’, no slow, hard strokes (as opposed to the ubiquitous jackhammering)
This seemingly was a problem I had with a number of porn scenes that seemed to forget about the fact that Kissing and correct oral sex is required to turn on a number of us who watch porn to get turned on. Okay I may want to see someone getting fucked but sometimes I find myself getting really turned on by porn that has an underlining of care between the two actors.
Besides it has already been reported that most of those positions are for show and not because they are a turn on for the man or the woman. According to sex educator/columnist Jamye Waxman in the following article:
What you see in film, all of those crazy positions, is simply because they look good on camera. They allow for great camera angles where you can see the penetration….
And from Nina Hartley in the same article:
Porn is a show. It’s entertainment. It’s all about lighting and camera angles. When you perform cunnilingus correctly, you shouldn’t be able to see shit. In porn, you see the guy or girl’s tongue licking pussy—but if you’re doing it right you shouldn’t be able to see that. I don’t lick pussy; I suck pussy. Any woman will tell you that’s what feels best; but it’s not visually appealing. They want the camera all in the woman’s crotch. So when you see all this tongue, that’s just for the camera. That’s not how it’s really supposed to be done.
Or like my friend T from PA, succinctly put it in her email to me:
I just love love, and there’s not a whole lotta love in porn…a lot of fucking, which can be good when you just want a nut, but terrible when you’re looking for passion between characters, and absolutely USELESS when you want to feel any semblance of a romantic or otherwise intimate connection.
I don’t know why I can get a video with folk into every fetish under the sun but I can’t get some scenes with some folk who are actually kissing and loving each other.
I know, I know … I’m asking a lot of porn. I would have a better chance of R. Kelly dating a woman his own age than porn that is romantic and sexual.
T, from AZ wrote:
I don’t like cum shots because for the most part they are pretty degradation and pretty unhealthy at this point in time.
Again I agree with this statement because I’m really turned off with ladies looking like a Krispy Kreme Doughnut after a scene.
From my friend N, in the ATL:
It’s hard to get turned on when da dude holdin’ da camera wont shut da hell up!
Sadly this strikes to the heart of the matter of the fact that we have A LOT of poor actors (and directors) out there who seemingly will screw up the scene by adding commentary. Many of my friends have stated that Wesley Pipes frequently FAILS in this category.
I always chuckle at this mention of Wesley’s Skills:
Martin Lawrence Presents 1st Amendment Stand-up (NSFW Audio) – More amazing video clips are a click away
C’mon don’t you think that if people are making high fun of you then its best that you might want to up your game a little.
Which leads me back to my friend V, from FL who stated this in her letter to me:
Some of these guys who have been in the business for more than 10 years, really need to give it up. Note to Byron Long, GIVE IT UP. Note to Wesley Pipes, GIVE IT UP. Note to Mr. Marcus, GIVE IT UP! If you are still considered “talent” after all this time, you need to find a new job or retire. Go to the old porno stars home, sit in a rocking chair, and remember the good old days.
If you have a face for radio, and a penis for porn, do the bondage videos where they cover up up your face and we don’t have to see you. My fantasy is all jacked up because your face is all jacked up. That just isn’t right.
I don’t think you’re alone. I became aware of this while listening to this interview with Victoria Allure, she said in reference to Male Actors in the business: “Some of these men need to retire.”
She’s now trying to recruit more qualified me into the game with the agency that she is running.
I think the reasons that the same men have LONG careers in Porn are simple:
- The majority of the clients who purchase the product is men. Sadly men don’t car about the penis in the picture when they want to see a fine (and some cases not so fine) woman getting down. As long as you keep rotating the woman who’s getting “pleasured” some men really don’t care.
- The majority of these men are here because they know how to perform. Quiet as kept as much as you want to see a Idris Elba-Type or Shemar Moore-Type getting it on with someone on camera … frankly it takes a special man to a) Not cum (or get soft) before the scene is over, b) Cum without getting distracted by a number of strangers milling about and c) Cum on command.
- It is much tougher for males to get into the business than it is for females. The competition is very high and most of the time producers will not let you in unless you come as a package with a female or referenced by a well know star. So you get the low turnover rates that you see now.
I think on that note I will close it off here. If I’ve missed out on anything or you want to discuss further, leave a message in the comment box below. And yes anonymous comments are allowed … but lets try to keep it civil shall we.

Recently one of my readers put me up on an article that was published on The SmackDog Chronicles. The topic was Interracial Porn. But for the most part it focused on the racism that seems to filter through some of the IR porn that’s out there. [If you read the link you will notice that AVN seemed to be fine with riffing off the titles like there was nothing wrong with them]
See if you can tell the real from the fake porn titles from the list:
- Fuck Me You Black Bastard!
- Oh No! There’s A Negro In My Daughter
- Asian Twats And Black Cocks
- I Can’t Believe I Sucked A Negro
- Mean Black Bitches
- Dirty Nigger Hoes
- Hot Black Hoes
- White Holes Black Poles
- Big Black Beast
- I Love Jerking Off Niggers
Sorry to say there’s only One Title on that list that is made up by yours truly (Title #1). The other titles come from actual DVDs or websites that promote the IR videos.
Sadly I have moved away from IR porn because of the blatant racism of titles like that or going to a website that screams “Big Black Bucks Fuck Tiny Twats.”
Are people serious about this? The article that I referenced before quotes an insider who indicates that IR porn is rarely affected by the downturns in the economy because of the subject matter.
Obviously, white men like to watch folk getting their swirl on but only if continues to stress the racist themes folk have tried too hard to put behind them.
Those include:
- The Big Black Buck vs The Innocent (or Virginal) White Girl
- Black Men Are Looking To Steal White Women From White Men
- The Cock Hungry Black Woman vs The Powerful White Man
What’s so funny that Black Men watch Interracial Porn specifically because they are turned on by the girls that are in the videos. So why turn off a segment of your fan base looking to connect with Jada Fire, Jazmine Cashmere or Jayla Starr by putting them in a video titled “Stank Black Hoes” or some other derivative.
I understand there is a market for this. Hell, Ghetto Gaggers have built their whole fan base focusing on debasing black women for fun and profit. The underlining point is this, people who may not be turned on by Interracial Sex in real life, are turned on by it in the privacy of their own homes. As quoted from an AVN Article, an owner of one Retail Adult Retail Outlet had this to say:
My customers don’t want to see a loving interracial couple; they want to see massive, black dicks satisfying or defiling pretty white girls.
Wow. I’m stunned and this is a man who frequently got turned on by Nina Hartley (in the past) or Sara Jay (in the present) when they did scenes. I was particularly turned on by the work they produced on screen rather than the fact that they were getting sawed in half by some guy with the Biggest Blackest Dick on screen.
I know what some of you are saying “Mr Blacksexxx, these men/women are just playing roles … Its just a fantasy and the actresses/actors do for the favor of their viewers.”
Sure I can agree but when Porn scenes start looking like a Raw Cut from Birth Of A Nation it sullies both the actors, the directors and the viewers of said porn.
Sara Jay, who frequently stars in Interracial Videos, has stated that she has always tried to not perpetuate stereotypes when doing films with Opposite Race Co-Stars. Sadly a number of her contemporaries don’t feel the same way as many refuse to even work with co-stars of a different race.
However that is a totally different discussion for another time (Yes like my Black Male Performer Post that’s weeks in the making).
